Norr om Stockholm

Polska from Elsa Siljebo, polska from Anna-Lisa Jonsdottir, country polka from Ruth Johansson. What feels different here?

Three fiddles, three women, three provinces, one great tradition. Norr om Stockholm is a trio that has played together a long time and has now finally decided to take the stage. They are a tight band, have very danceable tunes and have a penchant for tradition.

In our genre, we often talk about men, their fathers and their grandfathers. Many of us are taking up this problem. It’s important to examine this issue since tradition is not just about grandfathers who had fancy farm names. It’s also about Annie Appelqvist and her fiddle, Karin Sikström’s voice, Nelly Östlund's repertoire and all the grandmothers who taught fiddlers their songs. Norr om Stockholm play songs from and by women. The time has come!

In addition to their concert in Umeå on Saturday, Norr om Stockholm will also be giving a concert at Salong Källberg/Elmberg on Friday, 20 February at 3 PM (Music in Town) kallbergelmberg
