Down North

Down North is Upper Norrland’s youth team. It has been dancing together in this constellation for five years. The group has competed in the Kapplek competition on several occasions and has taken home a prize every time. The dancers in the group are 14 to 18 years old and choreograph their performances together with their coaches. Their performances usually draw inspiration from current topics of debate in society, and this is the case with their coming performance at Umefolk.

The performance Dance IRL is about young people and how adults view them.
Society has a prejudiced view of young people, believing they can’t live without their cell phones; that they need to be constantly connected to the outside world and sometimes simply have to check their phones even though they are in the middle of doing something else…like dancing, for example.

Is this perception of young people by adults true or is there more, behind the cell phone, that adults simply can’t see until they let go of their prejudices?
