Adeln + Merit Hemmingsson & Lars Skoglund

Umefolk is happy to continue our tradition of working with the Umeå Jazz Club in the run up to our festival weekend. Doors open at 7 PM. This evening we are treating the audience to two acts:

Adeln

Adeln was formed in 2009 and mixes Nordic folkmusik with jazz from New Orleans. Firmly grounded on both sides of the Atlantic, their music is a boundless mix of passionate tradition and euphoric improvisation; they are an exotic bird that has found its way to the Swedish forests.

This is Adeln's third performance at Umefolk, and they have previously performed throughout Sweden, Israel/Palestina and Europe. In 2015 the band is working on an album with a planned release in 2016.

Ivar Hedén Judt - Trumpet
Sofia Andersson - Saxophones
Olov Lindroth - Piano
Simon O Albertsen - Drums
Egil Kalman - Double bass

Merit Hemmingsson & Lars Skoglund

She's a farm girl from the county of Jämtland who has also played with Miles Davis and once formed a girl band in New York. Then she fell in love with the organ sound of the Hammond B3. Her big break came with a unique mix of jazz and folk music and she sold gold. She has finally returned to the city's jazz scene, not a day too late.

Merit Hemmingson - Hammond B3
Lars Skoglund - Drums
