Fionnuala Howard, a native of the most northerly point in Ireland, Malin Head, is a teacher, composer, singer, songwriter and previous winner of the Sean O Riada prize for Traditional Irish Music. This workshop/concert will include previously unheard Anglo Irish settings of ancient Airs from the Petrie and other important collections of the 18th and 19th centuries including previously unheard settings of old airs such as The Sally Gardens. The event will also feature songs from the Donegal Sean Nos tradition and will also include some songs recently written by Fionnuala Howard inspired by material she learned as a child in Donegal.
